I am Crystal Lyons-Johnson Candidate for the City of Ft. Myers City Council Ward 3. My family moved from Kankakee, Illinois to Fort Myers, Florida in 1981.
Why I’m running
I am running to continue doing what I have always done: Be a voice for the people supporting families and advocating for children. I am a Mother, Daughter, Sister and Community Liaison who advocates on behalf of Children and Families residing in underserved areas.
I take pride in being honest, trustworthy and having a heart to serve. I’m dedicated to building a stronger community, bridging the gaps and keeping the people informed of the issues. Ms. Johnson puts action to her words, and has been a frequent presence at City Council meetings, advocating for those in need.
The key issues that I would like to see addressed are
- Economic Development
- Affordable Housing in Fort Myers
- Health and Public Safety.
Accomplishments with STARS Advisory Board
As a concerned citizen and resident of Ward 3 I was appointed by the STARS Advisory Board in February of 2016 to host a Community Forum at the STARS Complex.
The purpose of the forums are to seek public input on ideas for programs and services being offered at the STARS. As well as the opportunity to inform and educate local residents about how to get access to resources and services available.
Based on the efforts made by the STARS Community Forum Committee The STARS Complex received an additional $30,000 in their budget in 2016.
