STATEMENT FROM FLORIDA DEMS CHAIR NIKKI FRIED

Protest charges dropped against FDP Chair Fried

Tallahassee, FL — The Florida Democratic Party is celebrating the dismissal of trespassing charges against Chair Nikki Fried. Chair Fried, along with Florida Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book and nine other protesters, were unjustly arrested in Tallahassee on April 4th, 2023, for peacefully protesting Florida’s extreme six-week abortion ban.

“I would have gladly gone to trial over this,” said Chair Fried, “because Floridians are being denied the fundamental right to control their own bodies. If that’s not worth being arrested for, I don’t know what is.”

“I’m thankful for the support so many Floridians have shown me, Senator Book, and our fellow protesters during this process. We will keep fighting until every woman in Florida has the freedom to make her own choices about abortion.”
