Florida Democrats Condemn DeSantis Immigration Stunt
Chair Nikki Fried calls his policies “draconian,” “borderline human trafficking”
Tallahassee, FL — In response to the recent coerced transportation of migrants to California, Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried has issued the following statement:
“This is yet another example of Ron’s draconian immigration policies. These migrant flights are borderline human trafficking, and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. Vulnerable people are being coerced and deceived into these programs without knowing there’s no plan on how to care for them. It’s cruel and inhumane.
“Floridians should under no circumstances be footing the bill for this. He needs to stop using innocent people in his presidential campaign stunts and focus on running the State of Florida instead.
“Our country has a rich history of welcoming people seeking asylum. Ron’s own great-great-grandmother fled Europe during World War I, and he’s only here today because America gave her an opportunity for a better life. He would do well to remember that.”
