By leveraging the administrative guidance of the Supervisor of Elections and the collective support of the Democratic Party of Lee County, you can build a robust campaign that resonates with the Lee County community. Here’s a quick primer to get you started with more to come as the campaign season heats up:
Who should run?
You don’t need to be a politician. Teachers, parents, veterans, activists, students, small business owners—we need leaders like you. If you care about your community, you have what it takes.
What qualifications do I need?
- You must be a registered Democrat for at least a year before the election.
- You must live or be willing to live in the district where you seek office. See map
- Know the job description of your office, i.e., role, responsibilities, budget, and key issues.

The Lee County Supervisor of Elections website has a wide array of helpful documents. Be sure to dive in and see the many resources available. Good places to start are:
- The Candidate Resources page, which offers important Petition and Qualifying dates, the location and contact information for the Qualifying Office and a list of helpful Lee County resources and publications.
- Visit the Candidate Online Packets where you’ll find informational packets, including necessary forms, tailored for candidates running for County Commission, County Court Judge, School Board, Special District, and Municipal Candidates.
Can I count on support from the Democratic Party of Lee County?
Absolutely. Our team of experienced political advocates and army of volunteers will support your campaign through promotion, exposure and hands-on assistance with outreach, and voter engagement. Although candidates are responsible for financing their campaigns, we are always available to assist in any way we can.
