Voting by mail is one of the easiest ways to make sure your voice is heard. It’s perfect for busy families, frequent travelers, and anyone who wants a stress-free voting experience. Vote-by-Mail is free, and it allows you to:
And if your plans change, you still have the option to vote in person.
Important: Under Florida law, all previous Vote-by-Mail requests have expired. If you were previously enrolled in Vote-by-Mail and have not already re-enrolled, you must do so with Lee County Elections at lee.vote or at 239-533-8683.
Steps to set up Vote by Mail
Check your Vote-by-Mail status:
Visit lee.vote and click “Check My Voter Record.” Enter your name and date of birth and submit the form. Your Mail Ballot Status will appear under Voter Information.
Verify your address:
Review your Florida Residence Address and Mailing Address, especially if you live somewhere else part of the year. If you may need your ballot mailed to a different address in July or October, add that address now. Once it’s on file, you can call to tell the Elections Office where to send your ballot.
Enroll in Vote-by-Mail:
Go to lee.vote, click Vote-by-Mail, and complete the form, or call 239-533-8683.
Need your ballot mailed to a different address?
The Post Office does not forward Vote-by-Mail ballots. If a ballot can’t be delivered, it will be returned to the Elections Office and your enrollment may be canceled.
Ballots are mailed about 35 days before each election:
If you will be at a different address during that time, notify the Elections Office in advance. Address changes must be received at least 10 days before the election—earlier is recommended.
Add or change a mailing address for Vote by Mail
Return the form at least 10 days before the election by:
In a few days, check lee.vote to confirm your mailing address has been updated. If not, call the Elections Office.
Most voters can start early voting around 10 days before the election, but in some counties, it may begin up to about 2 weeks prior. Click here for dates, times and locations for early voting in Lee County.
Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and anyone in line by 7:00 p.m. must be allowed to vote. You must vote at your assigned precinct, which may have changed—check your Voter Information Card or look up your polling location online. Find my polling location.
